People always ask how I knew it was time to make a change or pivot in my life. To be honest, sometimes it was thrust upon me. The move to a new city, the ending of a relationship, or needing to find a new job.

Other times there were signs that it was time, but even I didn’t always realize it myself.

What are some signs that it’s time to make a change?

👉🏻 If you constantly feel stuck or unsatisfied with where you are at, it might be a sign that you need to explore new opportunities or directions.

👉🏻 If you’ve lost enthusiasm for what you’re doing and find it difficult to muster your energy, it could indicate the need for a change.

👉🏻 If you consistently feel stressed, anxious, or unhappy in your daily life, it’s time to evaluate your current path and consider making adjustments.

👉🏻 If your talents, interests, or abilities aren’t being utilized, it may be time to pivot towards paths that aligns better with your strengths and passions.

“Fill your cup instead of filling your time!”

“Fill your cup instead of filling your time!” is my mantra these days 🪷 It’s my way of remembering to focus on what fills me with joy over simply keeping busy.

As an empty nest mom, Mother’s Day may evoke mixed emotions, but it’s an opportunity to focus on nourishing oneself. Rather than comparing your experience to others or dwelling on what it “should” look like, embrace the blessings in your life and find joy in the present moment. Whether it’s pursuing hobbies, spending time with loved ones, or indulging in self-care activities, prioritizing your own well-being is essential for a life in harmony.

Last night I joined a group of women at the @seattlewomensnetwork Anniversary Gala. It was the first time I attended an event though I knew several women already in the group. Instead of sticking to them the entire night, I sat with women I didn’t know (who became fast friends) and had a blast taking photos and having my photo taken, laughing and smiling the whole night. Okay, I know, you aren’t surprised 😈🪷🥰 Catch more in my #highlights

My point? I could choose to be sad 😔 that my kids are busy adulting and my hubby is traveling for work. Instead I said YES to an opportunity and embraced the journey to find ways to fill my cup with love, gratitude, and joy!

I realllllly dislike running or even walking in the rain ☔️ I didn’t grow up here in the PNW, I grew up in the land of sunshine called Southern California. I’ve also lived in the heat of Oklahoma 🥵 and the frozen tundra of Wisconsin 🥶

Yesterday was the last long run class for my upcoming #maythe4thbewithyou Virtual 5K on @thenextfitnessthing and the last chance to move my body outside before another rainstorm and a business trip to Las Vegas.

And so while I dislike walking and running in the rain…I grabbed a friend and did it anyway.👟💦

Life often presents us with challenges that push us out of our comfort zones, kinda like yesterday 😩, activities we may dislike but do anyway.

Yet, with all that the discomfort, having a friend 👩🏻‍🤝‍👩🏼 join us can make all the difference. Their support and motivation serve as a powerful reminder that we’re not alone in our journey. 🫶🏻🤝🏻

Together, we can weather the storms, both literal and metaphorical, and emerge stronger on the other side. 🌬️☔️

So, embrace the discomfort, push through, and lean on your friends for support along the way. 🏅

I’m celebrating the win 🥇 I got my 5K in, ran the last half mile at an amazing pace (9:27), did hill work, came out the other side looking like a drowned rat, my spun sugar self didn’t melt and the rain decided to stop only during our post-5K recovery mile 🤪 But I did it anyway. While these are good questions, I am here to tell you that there is no quick fix to feeling STUCK 🙇🏻‍♀️

Many of us try to put a bandaid 🩹 on it and think we are good to go, but like all bandaids, it’s only temporary.

When it comes to understanding and addressing feelings of being stuck, it’s a process. It requires patience, self-awareness, and sometimes trial and error.

It’s about delving into the layers of your thoughts, emotions, and experiences to uncover the root causes. This process of exploration can be challenging.

It involves asking tough questions, confronting uncomfortable truths, and being open to vulnerability. While there may not be an immediate solution, each step you take towards understanding why you feel this way brings you closer to finding clarity and moving forward.

Most of all, I want you to ask for help. Find someone who can be there for you. Someone who will listen and with the time and space you need, without judgment, help you gain the insights and perspective necessary to navigate through this feeling of being stuck.

One of the most beautiful moments during any of the workshops and retreats I have been blessed to facilitate is when two women sitting next to one another create a connection.

They come in as individuals looking to explore, learn, grow, and find something for themselves, but in the process they build a sisterhood with one another.

For some the process is hard and full of emotions, in that moment they find empathy and support as their journey begins. They receive guidance and understanding from one another and different perspectives.

It isn’t about taking big steps or giant leaps. It’s the journey. It’s the first step they take for themselves.

If someone had told me when my twins left home to go off to college, that when my nest became empty, that this would be me. Honestly? I wouldn’t have believed it for a minute.

If someone had told me in my 30’s, in the middle of momhood, that I would be standing in front of a group of women sharing openly about the journey of life and the Power of the Pivot?! Nope, I would have laughed and said, “ME?”

If a co-worker had predicted that my the age of 60 I would have lived in 5 states, left my corporate job, became a yoga instructor and then started hosting workshops and retreats and empowering and inspiring other women?! Hello?! Again, are you serious?!

But that is who I am. That is what I am doing everyday in my own way. Creating ripples and loving it!

Yesterday, I introduced a wonderful group of women to the POP - the Power of the Pivot. And it’s ripple time for them! We laughed, we cried, we shared and we ALL grew.

What is that one thing you’ve always wanted to do and just kept putting off, making excuses and coming up with reasons you can’t do x, y, z?!!?

I get it. It’s scary to put yourself out there and try something just because YOU want to. Heck, I’m fricken 60 this year and when so many of my peers are thinking about retiring, I’m adding to my bucket list.

…and I’m not letting anyone dictate what I can or can’t do at 60! 🎉

I am so thankful to my own life coach @passionpurposepassport kicking me in the 🍑 and getting me out of my own head 😳 She has been my biggest cheerleader (and occasional pain in my 🍑) and always there pushing me outside my comfort zone.

But I had to take those steps myself. She can empower and support me, but I have to do the hard work and say YES!

👩🏻‍🦰 Growing up I was taught that to tell people how amazing you are or to show off your talents was “bragging” and highly discouraged. “Girls shouldn’t do that.” “That isn’t attractive.”

And so I hid for most of my life.

☀️ I hid my height and how amazing my beautiful long legs were, by wearing flats instead of heals so that other women didn’t feel “so short” and so that guys didn’t feel small.

☀️ I hid how smart I was so that others again wouldn’t feel like they didn’t know what I knew 😳 what? girls aren’t supposed to be able to solve chemical equations in their head?!

And when I did any of these things, other girls looked at me like I was weird and boys didn’t want to date me 🤪

☀️ and so many more talents, gifts and abilities remained hidden.

I’m still a work in progress, but I am learning to own my own worth more each and every day!

In a world where others want to bring us down and diminsh our sense of self-worth, it becomes essential to illuminate our unique brilliance. We all possess a radiant light within, a beacon of authenticity and value waiting to be recognized.
